German tourists who turned towards Spain for political reasons did not find what they expected. Frenzel, President of the Federal Association of German Tourism Industry said: “Reservations for 2018 are going well. There will be 20% increase in the reservations for German tourists.” Mr. Frenzel also pointed out that there is a strong increase in the last minute reservations.
Good news for the year 2018 came from Germany for Turkish tourism sector which aimed at closing this year with 30 million tourists. Two important figures of the tourism sector who came to Antalya on the occasion of the celebration of the 25th foundation anniversary of OTI Holding, the company bringing the highest number of tourists to Turkey, held a press conference together with Ayhan Bektas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OTI Holding, and both gave the message that “Turkey is a safe country” and called for lifting the restrictions on visa. Dr. Michael Frenzel, President of the Federal Association of German Tourism Industry (BTW) stated that he brought good news from Germany to Turkey about early reservations. “Reservations for the year 2018 are going well and an increase of up to 20% will be obtained in the reservations for German tourists”, said Dr. Frenzel.
LAST MINUTE RESERVATIONS ARE INCREASING
Frenzel stated that the German tourists turned towards Spain this year, and said: “However 2 problems emerged in the destinations other than Turkey. Tourists came across the problems of overcrowdedness and poor quality in Spain. Just at this point, Turkey stands out as a very good alternative. You receive a very good service in return for a fair price. For this reason, we expect a very good return of tourists to Turkey in the positive sense.” Frenzel also pointed out that there is a strong increase in the last minute sales to Turkey. Drawing attention to the problem of safety for tourism, Frenzel said: “Nowhere in the world is 100% safe. People must finally learn this fact.”
